There was a stretch of time when the server got corrupted, and the Community Server application broke, resulting in people being unable to view or make posts. The funny thing is the administrators could still do things as per normal :-) But anyway forums activity dropped around that time, so.....
At any rate, there has been talk just where we want to go with these forums, and we more or less know we should not try to duplicate what MSDN or ASP.NET forums already have to offer. They have a larger user base with more experts lingering, and will be a better choice any day for asking hard technical questions (e.g. how to do nest DataGrids, transform CSV data, why does this error pop up in this situation, etc).
What I'd like to see happening within this forums are discussions that happen at the next (or deeper) level - considering the engineering aspects of our trade - providing introspection into what we are doing right now and how we can better plan, design, architect, carry out methodologies, test our programs and applications. More in line with our vision.
Of course, we'd have to have people who are interested in that kinda topics first. ;-)
