hi all,

need some of your opinion on the usage of dataset.

which one better and which one is more flexible, between global dataset and local dataset?

what about the advantages and disadvantages of both implementation?

thanx...

hi,

u might wanna check out some books out there wrt to ADO.Net. Even some simple .Net and ASP.Net books from the national library should be able to answer most of your queries you've posted, should be beneficial to learn from there as it will give u proper foundation.

just my 2 cents.

Code Complete 2E, Steve McConnell:
The difference between the "convenience" philosophy and the "intellectual manageability" philosophy boils down to a difference between writing programs and reading them. Maximizing scope might indeed make a program easy to write, but a program in which any routine can use any variable at any time is harder to understand than a program that uses well-factored routines. In such a program, you can't just understand only one routine; you have to understand all the other routines which that routine shares global data. Such programs are hard to read, hard to debug, and hard to modify

books make me feel sleepy...

i know i can find alotof resources through books, but i might say some people do not like to read books cos when they read it, they will fall asleep and im that kind of person. and also, books make searching certain question difficult.

that's y im turning to internet resources like this kind of forum to ask question though it's just a simple question cos i know if there's some kind souls out there in the world would not mind to answer my question directly.

however, if this kind of forum do not allow posting this kind of question that could be found on books in the library, so i would like to make my sincere apology to all the SgDotNet forumers and moderators for posting this kind of queries...

sincere,

don't get me wrong that i'm trying to be an unkind soul, rather i'd prefer to see u learning the right way having foundation, instead of asking for quick solutions to ur problems, whereby may lead to more difficult problems maintaining ur code in the future.

there are obviously kind souls around whom already have helped u...Cheers.

Let me be very clear about this - you will never pass an interview that is conducted by me with such an attitude to your profession.

The key to our profession is knowledge (actually so is everything else). Knowledge is obtained largely by reading. The experience of those who have been through it, willing to compile it nicely and cohesive into volumes of books. Being completely unwilling to pursue books that can expand your knowledge on the subject matter of interest, actually states the opposite - disinterest in wanting to improve and get better at the trade.

My highest recommendation is to reevaluate the approach and attitude you take with your job, and by extension, your career.
