hi MaungMaung,

r u the instructor from new horizons singapore?

previously i've been through some courses in vb.net using visual studio 2003 in new horizons, hopefully it's u the one who conduct it.

anyway i still not read the visual studio 2005 guided tour which u post it here, but i've some question
regarding this IDE since im now using it for my development. hope would able to get some advice here from nice and kind moderators and forumers here...

i found out that the latest version is more powerfull and fantastic. however, on the performance wise, the 2005 version i think is lack far from behind. the problem im facing is so obvious especially when changing the from the code view to the designer view. then when debugging the application, it will takes alotof time compare with the previous version.

i hope that some of the nice and kind moderator or anyone in this forum can give some suggestion or workaround on the problem im facing now with the new IDE. and also those who face the same problem with this IDE, can please share with us your current situation.

thousand thanks in advance...

Hi Eddy,

Are you using the RTM version of Visual Studio 2005 or a beta?

Does your hardware specifications meet the minimum requirements i.e. your RAM?

Cheers.

If you are using a Beta or CTP version of Visual Studio 2005, you will definitely not get good performance. Your hardware specifications seemed to be OK but I will recommend more RAM. I'm running Visual Studio 2005 on machines that are lower spec than yours but I have 2GB RAM and it runs perfectly well. I usually open up to 4 instances of Visual Studio.

There are also other factors i.e. Are you developing web applications and how large is your web page? How many projects you have in your solution? What other applications and services are you running when you run Visual Studio i.e. SQL Server 2005?

hi firedancer,

i confirm that the vs2005 version is the RTM version.

developing win app, only consist of one project, sometimes running SQL server 2005 which consumes alotof memory as well.

anyway, i think i need to upgrade the system memory as recommended and will check out the situation first later...

and again thank you.

Hi Eddy,

Sorry, I've overlooked your reply on this thread.

In my opinion, the performance of Visual Studio 2005 RTM is reasonably acceptable (may or may not be satisfactory) considering the advanced features it provides in the design time.

You have to paid for what you get.  That's only fair.

As softwares are getting more powerful and complex, they require more processing power and resources on the machine. That's why more powerful machines and CPUs are introduced every now and then.

So we gotta get Intel Core Duo Processor or AMD MultiCore Processors with lots and lots of RAM for the better performance. Stick out tongue [:P]

PS: Yes, I am with New Horizons Singapore.

again thanx to all...

PS: to momo, i think i attended your vb.net 2003 class in new horizons before last year, wish u all the best k Wink [;)]
