How to create custom homepage with thread listing

Alex Papadimoulis, owner of TheDailyWTF.com, has documented how to feature the main page listing new threads.

Ok looks like theDailyWTF.com method may not work for us since we have plenty of forums; his is dedicated to singular feeds. I have made a note at communityserver.org, and conducted modification to my own forums, which is the more desirable result for me.
