MSN Messenger chat font size

this has been bugging me for awhile and I cannot find a fix - despite setting the font size to 8, chat windows always open up with size 10. I always have to manually reduce to 8 for each new chat window. How do I get MSN Messenger to obey my setting?

I have tested and the chat windows changes with whatever font size I have set. I am using Windows Live Messenger Version 8.1 (Build 8.1.0178.00). Maybe try re-installing it? Ha ha...

That is the version i am using; it simply does not use size 8 for any machine I use.

Well, no luck from Google. But I have to say, there are times when the background of my chat window follows that of the other user (or so it seems).
