Hi everyone,

I notice that the MCAD courses that are in the market actually focuses on .NET 1.0 and .NET 1.1 (correct me if I'm wrong). In this case, what is the good steps to start with? if I would like to gain some certifications. I'm thinking to take MCTS in .NET framework 2.0. I have some basic knowledge on .NET 2.0, I'm not so sure if I should proceed to MCAD or MCTS....

Can anyone give me some comments on this.

Many thanks in advance.

Always take latest exams in my opinion.

in case you want to gain knowledge of .NET 1.x you can do it in spare time. there are upgrade exams for MCADs to MCTS you can enquire at testing centers or on google also.

i guess you know .NET 3.0 framework is in place so i advise you to go for MCTS then upgrade by the time .NET 3.0 exams come up.

thanks,

satish.

Hi satish,

Actually, this is what I was thinking also. However, it seems that not much company in SG provide MCTS for .net framework 2.0. Do you have recommendation?

Does anyone take MCTS for .net framework 2.0 before? is it hard to newbie like me?

I took that exam before on web application. Well if you know your stuff well :) probably it is easy. I am not sure how newbie you are, so I can't tell you whether is it that hard? To me, it is okay. Some very hard questions and some pretty easy.

Hi Wen Ching,

Thanks for your advice, last time which institution did u enroll for MCTS? how much is the course. So do you encourage me to join MCTS (.NET 2.0) directly instead of MCAD ?

 thanks.

Hi,

Well there is a problem. I am from Malaysia, so I am not too sure I can advise you on the institution. :(

As for myself, I will just go for MCTS .NET for my 1st one. I need to take up other MCTS later this year. Then I will go for MCPD.

Are you sure you have looked around?

Anyway, how many Microsoft Certified Partner for Learning Solutions (CPLS) are there in Singapore?

hi,

my personal advise would be to buy MCTS (Microsoft Press' self learning training kit) and just work on those books there are practise labs for each lesson, thats more than sufficient as far as know. you can buy them from compbook shop i am sure you must be knowing its in Funnan IT Mall.

i wont say classes are bad or good but ultimately they will teach you whats in the exam related books.

thanks,

satish.

I think you should take MCTS.  It's better to take up-to-date certification rather than wasting on old technology.

I just recently completed my MCTS too.  Self paced training kits will give you the basics, but I do not think its sufficient for the exam.  Try to check out practice exams online.

if your company is a Microsoft Partner, I think you are entitled to free practice test vouchers from measure up.
