ACM SIG Membership

Ok... I don't know if I made the right decision or am I just wasting money, but I think I'm making the right decision... Smile Well, I said i "think".

Yep. I just signed up for membership with ACM's SIG-SAC and SIG-MOD since I'm doing quite a fair bit of research in that area, both for my company (we're building an ERP right now) as well as potentially with an academic institute.

Just a little insights on what's going on,

SIGMOD Online Membership – Management of Data
The ACM Special Interest Group on Management of Data investigates the development and application of database technology on a full range of computer organizations. The scope of interests and members is wide with an almost equal mix of people from industry and from academia. SIGMOD sponsors an annual conference that is regarded as one of the most important in the field, particularly for practitioners. Similarly, the quarterly newsletter SIGMOD Record is a valuable resource for state-of-the-art information and includes the annual conference proceedings.


SIGSAC Membership – Security, Audit and Control
The ACM Special Interest Group on Security, Audit and Control addresses all activities involved with maintaining and protecting computers and their programs, focusing on the architectural foundation of secure systems. SIGSAC is involved with the development of computer security standards. As sponsor or co-sponsor of a number of conferences and workshops, including the Conference on Computers, Freedom and Privacy, the ACM Conference on Computers and Communications Security and the New Security Paradigms workshop, SIGSAC is an active participant in addressing significant issues in the field. SIGSAC also publishes a newsletter
