When trying to edit the name, description and group name for site content type in MOSS B2TR, you might encountered the following error: "The resource object with key 'cyptedit_select_group' was not found."

Solution:
1) Edit "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\ctypedit.aspx"
2) Search and replace, "cyptedit_select_group" with "ctypedit_select_group"

That should fix it!

Recently, we encountered issues with Virtual Server 2005 on the new Dell 1950 servers. Everytime, a virtual server is switched on, the host network doesn't seems to respond.

After much investigation, it seems that the problem was caused by the specific Broadcom network card.

Solution: Install the MS Win 2003 Scalable Network Pack Release:

There seems to be no actual figure on how many column a list can handled in Office 2007. Ishai Sagi has done some test to seek the magic number, however it seems to be able to create more than 2000 and more column in a single list... The downside, performance degrade when access the columns..  For full details, find out more at his blog...

He has written quite a number of interesting "finding" of Office 2007...

Finally, I have taken the radical step of uninstalling my Office 2003 and install the Office 2007 client suite in place of it. That happens 40 hours ago and now I have uninstall the one of the component and install back the old component.

It Outlook!!! It kept popping out the “send error report” and restarting my outlook that I give up using it. It happen around 95% that whenever I send out a mail, the error  will appear. It went on to the extent that I can even predict when it happens.

Do in the end, I have to uninstall that and reinstall back the old outlook 2003. It working fine now and I was surprise that both Office 2007 and Office 2003 can reside together  without conflict. Wow, why am I surprise?  J Maybe have see the error one day too much.

Bad point (Outlook 2007 B2)
- Slow response when clicking on URL link, sending email…

Good point (Outlook 2007 B2)
- Nice interface
J

I have not try out the rest of the office 2007 features, maybe B2 TR then..

For the rest, it seems fine, getting use to the new UI interface…

Recently while messing around with MS Exchange 2003, we encounter a problem changing the Recipient Update service to another domain controller. However it throws out an exception...

Solution:

Manually change the Domain Controller used by RUS for the domain by using ADSIEdit and configure the attribute msExchServer1NetworkAddress.

1. Install Windows support tools.
2. Open ADSIEdit by running ADSIEDIT.MSC.
3. Find Configuration->Services->Microsoft Exchange-><org name>->Address Lists Container->Recipient Update Services-><The RUS you need to modify>
4. Open its properties and modify the msExchServer1NetworkAddress attribute.

In order to verify if the RUS is working or not, you can create a new user with a mailbox on this domain, and check if RUS stamps this user.
