Languages, Frameworks and Architectures

New language solution frameworks are emerging to make solution development less cumbersome. For example, AJAX for building rich, interactive, internet applications, SCA for composing components into services, Ruby-on-Rails for building web applications. This interactive session will look at how these languages are evolving to include architectural constructs and where that evolution will go. Come with an open mind, don't take any notes and get ready to interact

Building Workflow Services with .NET Framework 3.5

The major enhancement of to Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) inside the .NET Framework 3.5 is the integration with the Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) forming a new technology called Work flow Services.  This technology is built upon the existing extensibility mechanisms in the framework and allows one to easily consume services as well as create them using WF.  Discover the underlying architecture of Workflow Services and the different scenarios this technology can be used for.

About the speaker
Rex has been delivering Visual Studio & .Net framework topics since the early days of .NET in 2002. He is one of the early adopters of .NET Framework 3.5 in Singapore and is actively spreading the word on how the new technologies benefit today’s developers. He also engages Microsoft Partners in using the Integration Development features of Visual Studio Team System.

Microsoft Certification 2nd Shot Campaign

Microsoft is offering a Second Shot to take certification exams.  Effective on September 15, customers can get a free second chance to pass a Microsoft IT Professional, Developer, or Microsoft Dynamics certification exam.

This offer is available worldwide, from September 15, 2007 to January 31, 2008, to anyone who registers for Second Shot and fails their first attempt at one of these exams. This is a limited time offer.

Nov 2007 #42 UG Meeting

We just had our Community Technology Update (i.e. CTU) event on 3rd November and it was a roaring success, with almost 120 persons turning up on a Saturday to learn about Unified Communications as well as Vista. Coming up on 22nd Nov, we’re having a joint UG event with SGSQLUG (http://sgsql.sqlgroups.com/) and we’ll be having our local SQL Server expert Weehyong to share about Spatial Support in Sql Server 2008.

Our UG meeting will be held on 22 Novemeber 2007 at Level 22, Auditorium from 6.45pm – 8.30pm.

About the Speaker
Wee Hyong is a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for SQL Server. He is deeply passionate about advaning the state-of-art in database management systems. He is a regular speaker at various various events (MSDN Meet-the-Experts, MSDN TechTalk, MEDC, TechReady) and also SQL Server and SGDOTNET usergroups.  Notably, he is one of the  first Singapore MVP to be invited to present to the Channel 9 community (http://channel9.msdn.com/).
