This month, we’ll be venturing into the technologies of the near future – Microsoft® Silverlight™ as well as sharing some insights to the new Office 2007 new default file format, OpenXML. Our July 2007 UG meeting will be held on 5th July 2007 (1845 – 2100hrs) at our usual venue, Microsoft Singapore, Level 21 Auditorium. Learning about OpenXMLChris (Developer Evangelist, DPE Microsoft Singapore) OpenXML is the new default file format for the Office 2007 System. As an open standard file format for documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, it leverages on XML and ZIP to deliver new possibilities with document-based solutions including interoperability, compatibility, content tagging and manipulation, custom XML schemas, custom XML parts and more. In this session, you will learn more about OpenXML and why it's more than just a new file format with an "x" appended to the filename extension. Microsoft® Silverlight™Darren Sim (MVP, ASP.NET) Microsoft® Silverlight™ is a cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering the next generation of .NET based media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web. Silverlight offers a flexible programming model that supports AJAX, VB, C#, Python, and Ruby, and integrates with existing Web applications. In this presentation, Darren would be sharing with the audience, how they could build feature rich interactive applications with Microsoft Silverlight and how they could make use of Silverlight to give their existing .NET, Java or even PHP applications, an interactive presentation layer!
