TechED SEA 2007

Tech•Ed SEA 2007, Microsoft’s premier & largest annual conference in the South East Asia region, focuses on newly released products such as of Microsoft Office along with content about upcoming releases such as Windows Server code name "Longhorn". Performance Tuning tips for Sql

While at work, it's not uncommon to see many WTF transact SQL used in stored procedures. After looking at various astonishing transact sql and seeing how they bring Sql Server to its knees, I realised that the fundaments of "DO'S" and "DON'TS" taught during school days are pretty much forgotten. If you're keen to fine-tune your sql queries, this is a good article.

Synopsis
Web applications are becoming increasing more popular because they offer many advantages over traditional software like centralized data, easily updatable, information accessible anywhere in the world, and many more. But the web was not created with application capabilities in mind. There are many problems associated with creating feature-rich web applications to replace traditional desktop applications.

This session discusses some of the common problems associated with web applications and tries to solve it with the new Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX. It will also show how to convert a JavaScript web feature from your existing web application into a reusable ASP.NET AJAX Extension with the ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit.

Note: Please bring your laptops with Vista enabled. Windows Meeting Place will be set up for instant downloading of slides and demos.
Note: This presentation is discussion and interactive-based, hopefully getting more suggestions and problems from the audience.

About the Speaker
Justin is passionate about various technology, and interests’ lies with languages, operating systems, processes, and low-level architecture. He's open to discussion about Open-Source, Linux, Mono, and many various other alternatives to Microsoft and .NET. He is proficient in C#, C++, Java and various other languages. He has been doing freelancing for a few years, branching out into other areas like training, consultation, business and marketing. He has spoken in various user groups and conferences, and currently focuses on AJAX technologies. He's currently studying in University of Waterloo, in Ontario, Canada doing his BCS in Computer Science.

It is a 5 minute's walk from Raffles MRT Interchange.

For attendees traveling by bus:
Nearest bus stop is near to AIA Building and it is a 5 minute's stroll to the OMB. Buses that service this bus stop are:
