.NET 3.0 on Windows Vista RC1

Last weekend, I downloaded Windows Vista RC1 and installed it on my laptop (IBM ThinkPad T43).   I am pretty happy with the stability of RC1 bit and have encountered no problem so far.  It even automatically recognized my Bluetooth device and installed most of the drivers.

Yesterday, I loaded Office 12 (Beta 2, yet to try out Beta 2 Technical Refresh though), Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite, Windows SDK, and Orcas on it as I am planning to dive deep into WinFx development, especially on WCF and WF technologies.  I did not have much time in the past to concentrate on learning these technologies, so, now is the time for me to wake up.

For the benefit of fellow developers who are also equally interested in playing with .NET Framework 3.0 and get familiarize with Windows Vista, I have consolidated links to the latest bit of Windows Vista (RC1), Windows SDK, Orcas, and VS Extension for WF.

My journey to Windows Vista is not smooth at all.  I downloaded the RC1 and couldnt wait for the completion of the setup on my 2Ghz Intel PC. But then after leaving the PC running night and day for the upgrade I came to realize Vista still got blue screen death!!! I yet reinstalled, just wait and see for a stable Vista.

For my case, I did the clean installation.  The specification of my IBM ThinkPad T43 laptop is as below.

- Pentium Centrino 2.0 GHz

- Memory 1.5GB RAM

- ATI Radeon X300 64MB Video RAM

I had bad experience in installing RC2.  It runs fine on my home desktop Dell Dimension 8300 and office deskop Compaq 380MX (pretty old though).  But it crawls on my IBM ThinkPad T43.  First, I thought it was my installation, so I did try reinstalling a couple of times to test.  After having tried about 3-4 re-installations, I concluded that RC2 has some serious problem on my ThinkPad.

Till now, I am living happily with RC1.
