About Me

Synchronisation of files using Groove, Part 2

In Part 1, I've showed you how to synchronize folders between two computers using Groove. Now, I'll show you how to synchronize folders with different people. All you need to do is to invite then to your workspace.

I'll assume you have already initiated the synchronization process using the instructions in Part 1. So let's start by inviting the person to the workspace.

1. Right click on the workspace and select "Invite to Workspace"

2. Select who you would like to invite.

Noticed that your MSN contact are also in the list? Selecting a MSN contact would result in him / her receiving an email with a link to download a trial version of Groove, and a link to accept the invitation.

There are three roles for you to choose as well.

- Manager allows the person to modify the files, and send invites.

- Participant allows the person to modify the files

- Guest allows the person to read the files, but not modify them.

I'm going to invite someone who already has groove.

On the other person's machine, he would receive an invitation at the lower right hand corner of the screen. He can then respond with an "Accept" or "Decline". Accepting the invite will cause Groove to download the workspace, and the same thing I describe in Part 1 when the workspace is ready to open will happen again.

Enjoy!
