Getting really fustrated with Asus P5B / JMicron / Vista x64...
I have been trying very hard to get Vista Ultimate x64 on my core2duo desktop ever since the bits was up on MSDN. After the bits was taken up and reposted up recently, I immediately download the new bits, borrowed another dvd drive from my colleague, and still have no luck getting Vista installed.
Everytime Vista boots up from the DVD drive, going pass the inital screen where it asked about languages and keyboard layout was smooth. But after clicking install, it always gives me problem here. Vista can't detect my dvd rom (TDK), but it can boot from it. What a joke... When I used my colleague's DVD drive (also TDK), it gives me problem after keying in the key, and it just can't find some file.
Been searching the Internet for resolution, and read about problems with the JMicron thing on the motherboard. Disabling it is not an option, as I will lose IDE, which my DVD drive depends on. Anyone out there got any idea how to get Vista installed? I got half a mind to march down to Sim Lim to see if I can get a Sata DVD drive!!! Or just forget about Vista...
