SISA - Secure Information Sharing Architecture

Legacy information systems have emphasized the importance and enforcement of security and access clearance, but mostly on a system-by-system basis, with the maturity of enabling technologies and methodologies, it is the time (or at least a time looking very promoising) to look into a more comprehensive framework that can enable the sharing of data (and particularly those sensitive one) in a controlled manner, allowing the synergy of information sharing without jeopardizing diversified security code of conduct in different agencies (mostly due to jurisdictional boundary). These are particularly attractive for governmental agencies.

In a very logical alliance, Cisco, EMC, Microsoft and other relevant industrial vendors are proposing the end-to-end SISA (Secure Information Sharing Architecture) solutions. The roles played:

Cisco - network protection and virtualized (logical) network
EMC - network storage and information management solutions
Microsoft - identity management, digital rights etc
Other Vendors - other aspects eg labeling and classification for sensitve information protection
