Something Called Strategy

Have been contemplating over this magic word for sometime as seemly every Chinese believes in holistic thinking and favors the whole context despite all the chaotic happenings, long term or short term for a situation: I could hardly escape such hard pressed collective image.

This article is a very good read too (in Chinese). I like the author's conclusion, especially the last sentence:

"注：个人的真心建议：在25岁以前，或者在自己没有担任可以开始决定很多人的工作方向的时候，最好不要主动去碰战略这个词。我觉得自己不算太笨的人，但是一次一次的培训，都没有把我这个木头疙瘩脑袋搞明白。只有当经历太多的选择，在每天被强迫的思考中，才能慢慢会用到，并且觉得有用。几年前，说实在，还是“项目管理”，“时间管理”，“人员管理”这些实用的招数，才更适合自己去磨练。武功的招数，过于超前，基本功不扎实，会出事的。"

"通常我比较喜欢用围棋来理解战术和战略。感觉上，战略常常会和人生观、世界观相联络的。下围棋到高手的阶段，往往会有棋风选择的问题，我想，这个时候也就是有所谓的战略的时候了。有的人会选择实地的风格，有的人会选择模样的风格，有的人会选择搏杀的风格等等，但都不影响会产生大师级的人物。而围棋中的种种技术手段，比如征子、倒扑、接不归等等，不论你是什么棋风，这些战术手段都是必备的基础。举个例子，弃子是一种手段，是一种战术，而弃子的结果是为战略服务的，或为围外势，或为取更多的实地，或为杀大龙做铺垫。因此，很赞同建硕的最后一段，当基础的战术还不够丰富的时候，莫碰战略，否则误人误己，空落烦恼！对年龄的界定反不苟同，能否谈战略全在自身的积累，水到渠成的时候，自然会有战略的思维。总之，越多人生的经历，才感觉离触摸战略更近。或许，有些人一生都在努力地去缩短触摸战略的距离，触摸战略的时间，这也许就是常人和非常人之间的距离。所以，我更多地把战略体会为领导者的人生观和世界观。个人观点，仅供参考！哈哈！"(评论fromYATAO)

I cannot agree more. 正所谓，吾生也有涯，而知也无涯。It would be hard learnt knowledge when you stay around and move bottom up, focus and harness the foundation very well. Time is our economy of scale. We need top down enlightment from time to time, but we cannot rely on it completely, those need to be appreciated at the right time and at the right place - good wine brewing takes time, nice food fakes time, growth endures time. Top down enlightment is best when we are prepared and ready, when the return from econmony of scale diminishes to a threhold.

Just some initial thoughts logged first.
